Nulis

Write freely. Keep it yours.

Your thoughts are yours. Every note stays in plain files you own.

Your space. Your words to keep.

Nulis saves every note as a plain Markdown file in a folder you choose. Just your words, stored your way. In iCloud, on your iPhone, or wherever you choose to keep them.

Classic or Scrapbook

One journal,
two ways to see it.

Some days a simple list is all you need. Other days your memories deserve more room. Switch between Classic and Scrapbook; a clean list of entries, or a board full of photos, notes, and the little things worth keeping.

Your files

Your words, beyond the app.

Your journal belongs to you, not the app you write it in. Open it in another app, move it to another device, or keep a backup of your own. Your writing stays readable, wherever life takes you.

Questions.

How do backups and sync work?+
When you make a book you choose where it lives: iCloud Drive, on your iPhone, or any folder in Files. Put it in iCloud and it syncs and backs up through the Apple account you already trust. Nulis runs no servers of its own and never sees your entries.
What happens if I switch phones?+
Your journal isn't trapped in the app. It's a folder of Markdown files. iCloud brings it to the new phone, or you move it like any other files.
What if Nulis disappears one day?+
Then you still have everything. There's no database to be stranded in and no export to remember. Your entries are already plain text files on your own device, readable in any app, for as long as you keep them.
Can I point it at notes I already have?+
Yes. Choose any folder in Files when you create a book and the Markdown notes already in it appear straight away.
Is there an iPad or Android version?+
Right now Nulis is an iPhone app. Because every note is a plain Markdown file, you can still open and edit your journal on any device, so your words aren't tied to one platform.
Why no account?+
Because a journal shouldn't require handing your private thoughts to a company. No sign-up, no login, no profile. You open the app and write.
